Sujata Bajaj roots since childhood see colour and culture, which can be seen in her monotype mixed medias. Her relationship with tint, tone, shade and hue, alternately create experiences within the ideal expanse of painting.
Her earlier paintings perpetuate a degree of adapting traditions of India’s tribal arts, by using geometric motifs, she adjusts the elements borrowed from her iconographic heritage to her personal vision characterized by her spirit, nourished with mantras, venerable texts as a form of sacred expression. If there is any abstraction, it is not without substrate or intention.
In recent practices, her paintings embrace hue in an unrestrained form with the advent of increasingly detailed images of coloured clouds and foggy forms in varied deeps and shades. Her work tours a more infinite, abstract, fluid concept, dynamic in construction and effervescent in constant motion.
The artist lives and works in Paris, France.
