Art & Soul, established in Mumbai, India in 2003, is a Modern and Contemporary Art gallery in the heart of Mumbai and was founded by Dr. Tarana Khubchandani. The Gallery has since pursued a discourse within India and overseas of aesthetic dialogues, producing spectacles that vary in genre, materiality and conceptual thought across the historical timeline of Indian Art.

From its inception, Art & Soul has also hosted a stellar Breast Cancer Charity Support salon exhibition and gala and over the last two decades with exhibitions and retrospectives of adept and emerging artists.

The Gallery represents a cross section of virtuosos who chiefly practice their aesthetics within the contemporary art umbrella; a focus that supports a crucial section of the art eco-system. The gallery’s exhibition programming is dynamically zestful and interspersed with the senior most artist presentations, curated solo and group shows as well as debutant solo shows supporting and encouraging emerging artists.

Art & Soul has also stayed at the forefront of promoting ceramics as a unique visual art form with annual curatorial projects in support of the medium.

A Dental and Oral surgeon by profession, I was also an avid art collector and started my journey as a Gallerist in 2003 with Gallery Art & Soul.

My passion grew as I spent my days and night ensconced in artist studios, understanding their practices, focussed on showcasing and raising cultural consciousness through the Arts. We held interactive events, workshops, seminars – all designed to educate the young collectors in the nascent Indian art scenario which had started to burgeon at this time.

This passion found another outlet as Curator of Visual Arts for the hugely popular Kalaghoda Arts Festival held annually in Mumbai at the historic Kalaghoda district. I have had the opportunity of mentoring countless young artists, students and photographers, over 15 years in this role and will continue to do so.

At Art & Soul, having held over 500 art shows of an exceedingly high calibre, we also set her sights on public art projects, commissioning artists for site specific works and collaborating closely with architects and interior professionals. The Domestic airports at Mumbai and Bangalore, the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Bangalore, the Leela Palace, Delhi are a few of our most celebrated projects.

In addition, my not-for-profit organization PASSAGES educates and empowers urban women in various spheres, and has helped raise awareness on the cause of Breast Cancer in Mumbai. The Gallery’s fund raising efforts assists the NGO to provide financial, medical and emotional support to Breast Cancer patients in all strata of our city to this day.
