He completed his diploma in drawing and painting from the Government School of Art and Architecture, Hyderabad, in 1963. He then went on to study Mural Painting under K.G. Goud’s early drawings are reiterations of his childhood memories of rural and tribal vivacity through an urban grid in which surreal, libidinal tones mingle with fantasy and poetry. He created masterful small paintings of village life in a palette of monochrome greys. His vivacious portraits of men and women brim with raw energy reinforced with masterful strokes.
Goud is the head and a teacher at Sarojini Naidu School of Performing Art, Fine Art & Communication, University of Hyderabad. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri in 2016.
