“Through the mist and the fog, the reflections of a wandering cloud – chasing my raft.”
“Zen Forest under bush, monk deep in meditation – restrained power of a tiger.”
“When you can just flow like a river – There is no need to build bridges.”
“On the edge of eternity? Don’t hesitate – leap.”
“Firewood does not last all night – The warmth of shared love does.”
“The Moon does not possess any light of its own, yet it shines & glows because it gives back the abundance it receives.”
This body of work is calligraphic in essence. The spontaneous gesture expressed on canvas permits no mistakes, hesitation or second thoughts. It has to come from the ‘Hara’ – the gut to express an intense emotion in a few strokes; my heart beats faster, the blood rushes down my veins to the tip of the brush and explodes — at last I am at peace!
“I am not a practicing Zen Buddhist but I have a deep connection with Zen. I believe that when you have an intense spiritual experience and that when your soul has touched the beyond, you have no need for scriptures and rituals. Your whole being is free and you can express yourself straight from the heart without being bound by any tradition or ruled.” – Satish Gupta
